Mapping mismatch – the location of Men and women toilets are positioned in mirror image of each other in two wings of the same floor. This makes it confusing for the person coming from one wing to another one. It is an example where-in the user cannot carry his earlier experiences and associations and finds a mismatch every time on entering a particular wing.

The location of a common utility space like toilets should be easy to find. Not necessarily would people know the location and there could be many first time visitors on the floor wanting to use the toilets. Women getting gents toilet or vise verse is surely not a pleasant experience. Even the people visiting the floor every day might confuse and mistake the required toilet location due to mistook position. To avoid such embarrassing situations and for convenience of the users, it is good to consider relative mapping of spaces within a floor, building, campus for common utility like toilet.
