Barrier at Security Check - thumbnail

Swapping cards to enter the office is a common code of conduct these days, still there is not much effort put in to make this everyday, mandatory action simpler for users. Main problem user faces is placement of the card swapping device. It is fine for short people but is a pain for tall people; they need to bend to swipe the card.  The access card holder is also an issue.

Barrier at Security check

With low height of swapping machine and barrier it’s difficult to use it with normal position. The person who wants to go past the barrier has to bend and swipe the card. The cards, hanging around the neck are difficult to bring it down to the sensor. The recent cards come with elastic hanging which could be stretched to the sensor and can be brought back to its normal position. The design works well considering different users with different heights and also for various contexts. Yet, this design is not so-useful for Indian women, when they are wearing salwar or sarees. Whether to change the attire or to change the design would remain a question for some time.
