Sim card Thumbnail

In Sony Ericsson mobile handsets, the battery has to be removed to reach the Sim Card.

SIM Card

To remove the SIM Card, in Sony Ericsson, the battery has to be removed, which can be avoided. Even though removing the SIM card is not frequent, in some cases, where the user wants to change from one model to another model or actually change the SIM card, this design requires the user to remove the battery also. Handling of battery should be done carefully. Care should be taken to remove and also to keep it back in position; which is also not so intuitive. Solution for this design is used in other handset models like Nokia where the battery and Sim card can be removed separately without disturbing one another.

sony erricsson phones are designed like this only, the electronic circuit cannot be completed without the SIM card in the handset, ie you cannot start charging the mobile unless you put in the sim card.
i think this is a saftey feature rather than an inconvenience.
