Train Berths of a 3 Tier Bogie  

The berths of a 3 tier bogie don’t provide enough head space. When someone is sleeping on the middle berth, people on middle as well as lower berths can no even sit due to less head space.

The spacing between the berths is such that if the middle berth is open the person at lower and middle berth do not get proper head room. It is alright while sleeping, but when a person wants to get up he faces problem. People on the lower berth cannot just sit properly.

These berths need to be reconfigured so that there is enough head space for sitting on any of the 3 berths even with the middle berth pulled out.

Very good point.many times every one who travelled in those berths has suffered with tht problem, Hope fully Railaway dept will take a note of it and correct it.

The problem is very difficult to solve. If it has to be solved, the total design of the coach including its height would have to be drastically modified. The only imminent solution seems to be avoidance of the middle berth altogether.

Agreed, that it is for sleeping. But if the person in middle berth wants to sleep then the one in lower berth also has to sleep forcibly(!). Similarly if the person in lower berth wants to sleep then middle berth person has to unfold his bed and has to go to bed. I always find upper berth is the only convinient thing except for missing the views.

Yes !! Most of us faced the problem. Even though berths are provided for sleeping,
lower berth person may need get down at his station, which may come at midnight.
So he needs to have outside look to find his station.
And some times, even in the mornings middle berth person may take extra sleep. Such cases lower/upper berth persons who got up early will not sit and they feel boring
