Rear view mirror in rainy season

The rear view mirror of an automobile is a serious design problem. The problem lies in visibility on a rainy day/night, when the side door glasses are closed & user in not able to wipe the rear view mirror.
The image shows the rear view mirror on a normal non rainy environment. The images to the right show the condition of the rear view mirror on a rainy day/night. Ideally, during a heavy rain, the user is not supposed to or is not desired to open the window and clean the rear view mirror. If this has to happen, it is a design failure. In this context, the rear view mirror is not helping in viewing the rear traffic properly & we can only see pixilated lights on droplets of water, which makes it very risky and dangerous for an automobile in such environment.
