Rickshaw Hawker

Upasna Bhandari, Delhi

A frequent mode of transport for people. Easy and cheap for travelling shorter distances.
However it faces some serious design issues.
a. Because of the height of the footboard, I often see ladies and old fraternity having difficulty climbing the rickshaw. If the height is lowered like the concept used in Low Floor CNG buses it will be improved a lot. Road clearance can be taken into consideration and thus height can be reduced considerably.

b. There is no support for your left hand. As you can see it in the picture, the only support on your left is either the rickshaw puller himself or his seat, which often is not vacant for support.
