Rupee Coins

Yugant Sonawale,India

Did I pay 2 rupees for 1 rupee?
Too subtle a design can be back firing at times. In this particular instance our national currency, the newly introduced 2 rupee coin. This NID design ended up looking and more importantly feeling similar to already prevailing 1 rupee coin. The only subtle difference being the visible readable/information on the coin.

Currency coins are to be used by an entire nation including its citizens with visual disabilities. Tactile cues like shape, mass, dimension and textural feel of a coin are pretty basic to make it distinct and easy for day to day transactions.
