Theme for the Competition

Buzz World
Social Networking and Mobile Communication

Communication is the new order of life on our planet. H2O, O2 and a skill set on our resumes is not enough anymore to survive in this ever growing complex ecosystem of life. If we are not on the helm of affairs with the ever changing dynamics of communication in today's world, then we might be forced to search for a new nomadic life on other planets.

Mobile and social communication is a big buzz word and why not, after all we have over 300 million mobile subscribers. Digital communication through various manifestations and channels like the web, blogs, micro blogs, social networking and mobile communication has stormed our lives.

Communication is one of the most basic and also the most complicated of human expressions. Depending on the context and situation, communication can address plethora of emotional needs and can make or break relations, career and business. Communication is the most powerful of all mediums. But unfortunately and inevitably we let developing technologies seize the control of our communication. Medium has become the messenger and message itself now.

Boycott Bad Design Contest'10 encourages participants to look at various means, modes, mediums, products and services of communication from the most latest micro blogging rage like Twitter on the Internet to the not so pre-historic mediums like newspapers, radio, television and telephone. All identified bad designs must be currently in use.

This competition calls on participants to identify bad designs, services and experiences from our everyday life. For inspirations and ideas, you can refer to Boycott Bad Designs , this was a program organized by UMO to identify and raise awareness about the badly designed products.
